Hanging Instructions and Tips
We advise a professional be used when hanging non-woven wallpaper.
Preparation
- Walls should be dry, clean & even.
- Clean the wall with sugar soap.
- Remove any old wallpaper & loose paint.
- Fill any holes, cracks or imperfections with a wall filler & sand once dry to ensure it is smooth.
- The wall must NOT be freshly plastered. It would need to be painted prior to wallpapering.
- Make sure the room is well ventilated & that heating is switched off before hanging & whilst drying.
Pasting
- This is a paste the wall product. The decorator should paste the wall & not the back of the wall covering.
- A good quality, solvent free, fungicide protected ready-mixed ‘tub’ adhesive – specifically for paste the wall non-woven papers should be used.
- Paste should be evenly applied to the wall to hang one length at a time, to an area slightly wider than width of the paper.
Hanging
- Hang the dry paper at the top of the wall with a few cm excess above the ceiling line.
- Lightly brush the paper into place right down to the skirting boards.
- If you are happy with how the wallpaper looks take your smoothing brush & smooth out the paper working from the centre to the edges.
- Avoid squeezing paste out of joints & ensure paste does not get onto the brush or roller.
- Trim any excess at the top & bottom with wallpaper knife.

Tips & Advice
- Use a roller for the bulk of pasting & a small paintbrush to get close to the ceiling & skirting boards.
- No paste should come into contact with the surface & hands should be kept clean & dry whilst hanging wall covering.
- Paste will damage the surface. The company cannot accept responsibility for marks or damage caused by paste.
- Should any paste have been allowed to come into contact with the surface of the wallpaper, it should be lightly sponged whilst still moist, using a clean damp sponge.
