About Bibi Berkeley
Our story
Bibi Berkeley produces British-made, hand-painted wallpaper and prints. Following a career in mural and print design, artist Nicola Bell drawing on her love of painting and interior design set about establishing the business in 2021 with a focus on high quality, beautiful and timeless wallpaper.
The company name reflects the artistic world that inspired its creation. Ballard Berkeley, Nicola's grandfather was an artist and actor (best known for his role as Major Gowen in Fawlty Towers) and Penny Berkeley, her mother is an established landscape artist who made art and painting part of everyday life growing up. Bibi was a much loved and very missed great-aunt.
Quality
Bibi Berkeley wallpaper is designed and printed in the UK and is produced using premium materials to ensure the highest quality for years to come.
Wallpaper should be both beautiful to look at as well as to touch and as such we use a non-woven parchment paper which is heavier and thicker than regular paper and has a soft texture giving it a luxurious feel. All our wallpaper is printed using leading industry standard printers which ensures a perfect print every time and allows for our wallpaper to be printed with edge to edge hanging for a perfectly seamless finish.
The design process
Bibi Berkeley wallpaper begins life as a painting, created by artist Nicola Bell in her West London studio. Paintings are then restructured into a wider repeat pattern which forms the final composition. Focus throughout this process lies with classic design for timeless appeal with a modern twist to cater to any interior.
Each collection is named after the wonderfully memorable places that inspired their design.
Sustainability
At Bibi Berkeley we are committed to minimising our impact on the environment.
All ink used in our wallpaper is HP Latex, eco-friendly water based and non-toxic which makes them environmentally kind. Our designs are printed onto luxury non-woven paper which is FSC approved which means that we use only materials that have been sourced in environmentally-friendly, socially responsible and economically viable manners. In the printing process all waste ink packets, print heads, and worn parts are recycled sustainably. Every roll of wallpaper is printed to order to minimise waste.
Materials
We work with global industry leaders to manufacture our wallpaper ensuring the highest standards.
The ink used is of premium quality helping to ensure the designs stand the test of time. We use luxury non-woven paper which is higher in strength than regular paper so has better tear resistance, particularly when wet and delivers no seam separation on the wall.
We strive to produce a beautiful quality product both in look and feel which is designed to last.
